THE BOUTIQUE
The boutique that would become La Casa de Las Hermanas began in Pueblo Garzón in 2021.
The first summer was an experiment. Would people come to a tiny pueblo in the countryside to shop, discover new work, stay for a drink, hear music?
They did.
In the seasons that followed, La Casa de Las Hermanas took shape—bringing together art, design, music and an evolving collection of work from Uruguay and across South America.
What began as a seasonal shop became something more fluid: a place for objects and ideas, but also for gathering. Art, ceramics, clothing, knitwear, jewelry, vintage pieces and objects for the home shared space with exhibitions, new collections, music and evenings that often extended well beyond closing time.
EACH SUMMER
Each summer, La Casa takes shape in a different space in Pueblo Garzón, becoming part of the evolving landscape of the pueblo.
At El Molino, one of Garzón's historic properties, an intimate interior opened onto a garden and patio that became central to the season. La Pulpería, built in the spirit of the traditional country stores of rural Uruguay, offered an entirely different setting. Most recently, La Casa popped up alongside La Galerilla, an independent contemporary art gallery housed in an old railway carriage and focused on emerging artists, bringing the boutique into yet another creative corner of the pueblo.
Each space is approached on its own terms, through furniture, art, objects and merchandising rather than the repetition of a fixed store concept.
The setting changes. The point of view remains.
FRIDAY SUNSETS
Friday Sunsets began at El Molino.
At sunset, DJ Hombre Luna would set up and play as the shop stayed open into the evening. Friends arrived. Customers lingered. People came from the surrounding countryside and from much farther away.
Shopping became social. Evenings became dance parties.
The evenings grew into a weekly summer ritual, bringing together the community in Garzón with visitors from around Uruguay and the world.
The playlists remain part of the archive of those summers.
THE COLLECTION
At the center of La Casa has always been the collection.
The boutique brings together independent South American artists, designers and artisans working across ceramics, art, clothing, knitwear, jewelry, textiles and objects for the home, alongside vintage pieces and unexpected finds.
Many of these relationships have developed over years—through travel, introductions, studio visits, friendships and the simple act of finding something remarkable and wanting other people to see it.
The assortment has never been built around a fixed category or aesthetic. Established names sit beside emerging makers. A hand-thrown ceramic might share a table with a vintage object, a wool sweater or a piece of contemporary art.
The connection is the point of view.
GARZÓN
Garzón gives the boutique its scale, its rhythm and much of its character. The shop becomes part of the movement of the pueblo in summer—locals stopping in, friends returning, children behind the counter, artists passing through and visitors arriving after hearing about the store from someone they met along the way.
The people who make the work meet the people who buy it. Customers become friends. Friends become collaborators. Music spills into the street.
For a few months each year, La Casa becomes one of the places where those worlds cross.
TODAY
What began as a seasonal boutique in Pueblo Garzón now extends between Uruguay and the Unied States through the shop, the house in Garzón and the creative work of The Studio.
La Casa continues to evolve.
